Quick Gifts -

every third Sunday of the month

Do you end up working to the very last minute on gifts every year?  We are starting a group to get together for quick gift ideas once a month to work on gifts to try and eliminate making gifts up to the very last minute.  On the third Sunday of the month we will meet around 1:00 with a quick gift idea.  We will have some pattern ideas to help you get your gift started.

Luce Cowl

Join us on May 20th when we will be knitting a  called the Luce Cowl.  This beautiful cowl can be knitted with  or without beads.   If you haven’t knitted with beads before this might be the perfect project to try it out.    The pattern calls for a  235 yards of Sport Weight yarn and a size 7 needle.  You can of course change the yarn size or needle size to make the cowl your own.
Rachel is happy to suggest several beautiful yarns for this cowl.  If you have a different pattern you would like to try come and join us for fun and companionship and some helpful tips.

Come join us from 1:00 to 5:00 on the 15th!

Our first meeting of the Gift Club was a lot of fun and a lot of great snacks.  We will be meeting on Sunday April the 15th to make a Needle felted Notion Case to keep all of your notions in one place.  What a great gift for all your friends.  You can customize the case to work for any notions you want – needles, stitch markers, cable needles etc.

If you want you can pick out whatever color of felt you want and bring to the shop or there will be felt available at the shop.  There will be lots of colors of roving available to pick from to customize your case.  Needle felting is not difficult to do and if you haven’t tried it yet this is a great introduction.

Fingerless Mittens

In March we will be looking at fingerless mitts.  These can be quick and easy or very elaborate depending on what you would like to do.  If you don’t have anyone you would like to make them for (not even yourself) you can work on a project of your liking.  If you would like to make a pair of mitts and don’t have anyone in mind they are a great charity project for people who are going through dialysis.

Most of the patterns require DK yarn and needles from 4 – 6 in size – doublepoint needles or circulars.

The cost of the meeting is $10.00 a month.
